Couvre x Top 2016 (part.3/3) | Philou

This post is also available in: Français

1.     Bad Gyal – Fiebre Riddim (prod. King Doudou)

Dancehall ? Reggaetón ? Trap ? R’n’b ? Bad Gyal is a bit of all this. A really fresh mixtape in early autumn, smart videos and a very good vibe straight to the Catalan Atlanta aka Barcelona (saludos Jean-Philippe).

S/O to Konga for Pai in my inbox when it come out.

2.     Paradoxe Club – Boss Rush (compilation)

Paradoxe Club, definitely the French label to watch in the electronic French music renewal. As home for new talents (De Grandi, Martel Ferdan, Le Dom…) as one for great producer already recognized but who seem to be here to stay because of their awesome creativity (Deke – King – Soto, Feadz).

3.     Akito – Metamessage (Sans Absence)

In the game since long time ago, I just discovered Akito in 2016 thanks to his label Sans Absence. Each new Sans Absence release is great, as well as each set of the DJ from London.

4.     Maahlox Le Vibeur – Les Sorciers

THE big revelation of the year for me. Maahlox was able to make a hit every two months (or more) since 2015. Unstoppable, in every senses of the word.

5.     Teki Latex as Boiler Room curator

Ambitious line-ups, really pertinents (or “futurist” as some people might say), with a nice place for the “new” talents to showcase their force of proposition (hi there Le Dom, among others).

6.     100% Radio Hits

Because King of blends.

6.     Maluma, the new king of reggaetón

Across the Atlantic, Maluma is about to become the new king of reggaetón. He steal, little by little, the King Balvin throne who, however, become more and more famous internationally.

7.     Mexican 3ball on iTunes and Spotify thanks to Guaracha Label

Thanks to Guaracha to give to the wonderful 3ball (or “tribal) guarachero, costeño and prehispánico a new life. Special place in my heart and in my DJ sets.

Proof on iTunes.

8.     Firsts Couvre x Chefs shows on Rinse France

S/O to BJF, always here, and to Rinse for the opportunity. “<” “three”.

9.     Lauching Plage Club party with Konga Konga in Nancy

Because for us this is like a small “revolution”: have booked the 3ball costeño legend DJ Tetris and organized a party with him in an architect’s studio, have made a party with DJ Lycox of Príncipe Discos in an art gallery near the main Unesco town square and have booked Lechuga Zafiro for a party in a duplex crowded as hell. All of this in a small provincial town.
