PREMIERE : KΣITO – Bougainvillea [POLAAR]

KΣITO 4G polaar Couvre x Chefs 1Artwork Arastoo

The excellent Lyon-based record label Polaar will release its eighth release on December 12: G/G/G/G, a joint Gqom EP from two Japanese producers, KΣITO and Mars 89. The recognition of the hardest South African genre to pronounce seems to definitively ignore all borders. A few months ago, it was the boss of [re]sources, Tommy Kid, who signed a banger Gqom on CyberSonicLA. For the past year, Gqomunion evenings have been a great success in Paris, inviting the most influential producers of Gqom to the French capital. Not to mention DJ Lag, ambassador of the Durban style, who seems to be on a perpetual world tour since 2016, while signing remixes ranging from Kelela (Warp) to Lechuga Zafiro.

The Japanese Gqom of KΣITO on Polaar

KΣITO is a Tokyo-based producer and DJ whose work, described as “primitive and magical”, ranges from Juke/Footwork to Gqom. In exclusive listening before the EP’s release on December 12, you can find below the track Bougainvillea from KΣITO. On this song, the author proposes a personal rereading of the Durban style. The breathing samples and the mounting of characteristic drums are precisely manipulated and re-orchestrated by the Japanese producer. Rather dark in its original version, the Gqom of KΣITO is embellished with layers that give the body of the piece an implacable progressiveness. Maintaining a certain pressure and a continuous rise for more than 5 minutes, Bougainvillea is easily positioned as a powerful track ready to devastate any dance floor.

The EP G/G/G/G, from KΣITO and Mars 89 will be available on December 12 at Polaar and you can already pre-order it on Bandcamp.
