DJ Ethanol Unleashes “Test Press EP” on QRUK: A Fusion of UKG, Breaks, and Electro
DJ Ethanol makes a striking debut on UK-based label QRUK with his new release, Test Press EP, a raw and high-energy blend of UK Garage (UKG), Breakbeat, and Electro, filtered through a transatlantic lens. Comprising two original tracks and a remix, CxC is honoured to share the exclusive track “Originate”, which you can listen to in this article.
Originally from the underground party scene of North Carolina and now based in Edinburgh, DJ Ethanol draws from the spirit of free parties to craft a rugged, textured sound. The title track, Test Press, is a high-tension ride that fuses industrial percussion, acidic stabs, and fractured vocal chops into something visceral, unpredictable, and deeply physical.

QRUK: A Label Committed to Forward-Thinking Sounds
Based in the UK, QRUK has established itself as a platform for genre-defying electronic music, with a catalogue spanning UKG, jungle, breaks, techno, and bass-driven hybrids. The label is known for championing both emerging talents and established underground figures, with each release pushing sonic boundaries while staying true to the DIY ethos of the rave movement.

Remix by UMT: Between 2-Step Swing and Minimal Pressure
On remix duties, UK veteran UMT brings decades of Garage and Breakbeat experience to the table. His take on the title track strips things back to the essentials: deep sub-bass pressure, shuffled percussion, and tight rhythmic control that sits somewhere between 2-step swing and skeletal minimalism—tailor-made for smoky, low-ceiling dancefloors.
Recently supported by names like DJ EZ, Quest, and J:Kenzo, UMT proves once again why he’s a staple in the UK underground scene.
