CxC PREMIERE: Trae Joly – Brass Wayne (HTS)

The groundbreaking 140 BPM Club Music of Trae Joly’s long-awaited debut EP is ready to make waves on the dancefloors

Trae Joly is a DJ, producer and activist on the French club music scene. Based in Marseille, the Moon Squad cosmonaut (or co-founder) is about to release his eagerly-awaited debut EP, Sticky Dancefloor.

Without compromise, and as its name suggests, the EP is precisely calibrated for the dance floor. Made up of three tracks, it reflects the (excellent) DJ sets of the producer from Marseilles: technical, unpredictable, eclectic and full of energy. Designed for peak time (or is it peak time?), on Sticky Dancefloor Trae Joly sweeps up his UK, Breakbeat, Dirty South, Gqom and Brazilian Funk influences and skilfully combines them in an innovative and true-to-life offering, at 140 BPM of course.

Our pre-release extract from the EP on HTS is the track ‘Brass Wayne’, which is out now on CxC. The track’s energy and synths are a reference to Trap/Dirty South producer Lex Luger, to which the Marseilles native adds an overboosted Amapiano log drum and an unstoppable Baltimore-ish snare for an explosive result. See you on the dancefloor at 3 am.

Pre-order Sticky Dancefloor by Trae Joly on Bandcamp, to be released on 28 February on HTS.
