Scarlett | Thin Ice Remixed [CxC004]

On Thin Ice Remixed, Scarlett invited four very talented and respected producers to rethink her first EP (released during the summer of 2020): Imaabs, Syn, Sébastien Forrester, and Galtier.

If the original EP was a series of dark ballads and introspective “avant-pop” songs shaped to be performed live, its remixed version highlights the club potential of each track.

Invited for their strong and innovative musical identities, the four artists all took this opportunity to invade areas of experimentation away from their comfort zone.

Imaabs (who was in charge of mixing and mastering the original EP and mixed this one too) turned Ran into a steamrolling jungle time bomb.

The Irishwoman Syn, whose energetic releases on Even The Strong and Flood shaped the sound of Hard Drum, gave us a reinterpretation of No Meaning mixed with UK gqom.

Sébastien Forrester remained faithful to his percussionist background (he is among other things Ladawndah’s drummer). His response to Leaving (ft. Maghdalene)’s roaring bass is an organic and perfectly executed drum rework. A remix already approved by Brodinski himself.

Finally, Nostro Hood System’s boss Galtier gifted us with an extended muscular version of Lights In The Sky: a slow and powerful 7 minutes long technoid dembow crescendo.
