Brazilian producer Holandês unveils a new Funk Bruxaria-flavored single from his forthcoming EP on XXIII
Holandês is the electronic music project of Pedro Mota, a DJ, and producer based in Recife, Brazil. The 22-year-old artist started his musical career in Funk Proibidão, before making various film soundtracks. Today, he integrates elements of Brazilian “peripheral culture” such as Funk, Electro, Ghetto, and Hip-Hop into his music.
After various national and international collaborations, the Recifense will release his next project on the renowned Portuguese label XXIII. Entitled Poder Paralelo, the EP combines Miami bass, electro, and Brazilian funk influences; three genres that chronologically shaped Brazilian club music.
Prior to the EP’s release in early June, XXIII gave us the chance to broadcast the track “DJ Do Baile”, which can be heard in this article. With its incisive and saturated bass that evokes Funk Bruxaria, and its typical Brazilian funk vocal samples, “DJ Do Baile” marks a return to Holandês’ Proibidão roots.
Holandês’ Poder Paralelo is released on June 2nd by XXIII, follow the label on Bandcamp.
