Couvre x Chefs - or CxC - is a live and digital curation collective specializing in emerging and alternative club music.
Our media, our parties, our DJ sets and our label allow us to witness in real time the evolution of musical scenes nestled in the four corners of the planet.
We thus cover a wide variety of genres whose association is often summarized by names such as club music, global club, hybrid club or even post club: baile funk, batida, dancehall, dembow, dubstep, footwork, gqom, grime, guaracha, hard drum, hardcore continuum, Jersey club, reggaeton, UK funky...

Active since 2011 as a blog, a regular source of digging for some, a first showcase for others, Couvre x Chefs has positioned itself as a benchmark curation platform for the global club scene.
The editorial line highlights artists and labels that shape the multiplicity of underground (post) club scenes, from the avant-garde to the most popular.
Independent since always, we strive, as a media, to offer a space to the most innovative musical proposals without looking at the notoriety of the artists and labels that we put forward.

Events
Designed as a safe and unifying time space where we find our community IRL, the Couvre x Chefs parties were launched in 2015. Since mid-2018 we have been organizing around one evening per month in Paris, alternating intimate clubs and larger structures.
Currently in residence for several dates at Petit Bain (Paris), we have produced around forty events so far in places such as La Java, L'International, L'Alimentation Générale, à la folie (Paris), Le Chinois, La Marbrerie (Montreuil), but also in Nancy, Metz, Marseille or Geneva.
We have invited more than fifty artists from avant-garde club scenes from all over the world, some of whom were on their first date in France*:

Roster
Most CxC members being above all DJs and / or producers, it is mainly behind the turntables that we best express our passion for club music by mixing our latest discoveries and personal musical productions.
With individual careers made up of releases, mixes and international bookings, the members of the collective thus create a veritable roster of artists labeled CxC. Their complementary artistic visions give the project its richness and diversity.
In November 2018, CxC was invited to Boiler Room alongside the labels Boukan Records, [re]sources and Promesses. Four members of the roster represented Couvre x Chefs during sets in B2B2B2B with members of the other crews.
BJF
BJF is a multifaceted artist. A key member of the music curation collective Couvre x Chefs, the French DJ and producer blurs the lines between grime, kuduro, baile funk, dembow and other UK Funky. Putting the dynamics of these different styles in tension, a BJF set is therefore often an essentially percussive affair, retracing a whole panorama of styles exploded on a world scale but which find an internal coherence in this context.
His productions have been played on Boiler Room, NTS, Rinse FM, Rinse France, Hör, BBC, Reprezent, etc.

Tim Karbon
Timothé Defives AKA Tim Karbon is a producer / DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Montreuil (93). A drummer and percussionist in the bands TNHCH (Art Rock/Post Punk), MAÂT (Fourth World/Jazz/Ambient) and Design Default Ensemble (Dub/Jazz/Bass Music), his solo work explores the multiple hybridisations of the international club scene, His solo work explores the many hybrids of the international club scene, particularly those that bring together timbres derived from traditional Black Atlantic music such as Brazilian Baile Funk, Caribbean Reggaeton and Senegalese Sabar, with those of a sound heritage rooted in the UK Hardcore Continuum (UK Funky/Jungle/Deviant Dancehall/Dubstep... ). Tim Karbon also imagined the militant and charitable collective QSS (Quarantine Sonic Squad) in 2020.

Bile Noire
The Mexican illustrator and artist, based in Paris for several years now, transmits in her DJ sets her eclectic taste for racy and referenced club sounds.
With a solid repertoire of 80's underground music (EBM, cold wave, synth pop, post punk, new wave...) built up in the essential clubs of the genre in the Mexican capital, Bile Noire also embellishes her sets with nuggets drawn from the Caribbean styles she knows inside out: rocksteady, cumbia, merengue house or classic reggaeton right up to the most experimental.

Næja
Raised on Drum & Bass from an early age, Næja has spent the last 15 years navigating his way through Bass Music, Club Music and Hardcore Punk.
His DJ sets on vinyl and CDJs are tinged with a wide range of BPMs and influences, but it's in dubstep music that he feels most at home.
He has been curator and editorialist for Couvre x Chefs since 2019.

Scarlett
Scarlett is a composer, DJ, and member of the media collective & record label Couvre x Chefs. After crafting the soundtracks for fashion shows by the likes of Richard Quinn, Clara Daguin and Roisin Pierce, she now turns her sharp gaze to club music. Her DJ sets offer a wide view of what club music means in 2023 while displaying the rigour that Couvre x Chefs is known for.
With Thin Ice (2020) and Signs (2021) Scarlett played with pop avant-garde through live music. She now returns to the DJ set format with the explosivity and vitality of her expansive musical interests.
Scarlett's achievements involve collaborations with reggaeton living legend Rosa Pistola, Argentine hyperpop singer O.L.I.V.I.A, and NAAFI's protégé Lila Tirando a Violeta. She has been remixed by some of the strongest names in the game such as Imaabs, Galtier, Syn, Sébastien Forrester or Pura Pura.

Label
Launched in 2019, the integrated and eponymous label of Couvre x Chefs alternates between solo EPs by artists of the collective, or relatives, and compilations (CxC Vol. 1, Vol. 2). The latter - in addition to presenting unreleased titles by artists from our roster - are an opportunity to invite guests in line with our musical direction, often also passed through our parties or our media: Bianca Oblivion, Deltatron, King Doudou, Lao, Le Motel, Rosa Pistola...
The titles of the label have been played many times on reference platforms such as BBC 6 Music, Boiler Room, danceXL Radio (Apple Music), Hör, Rinse or NTS. They have also been added to Spotify, Deezer and Napster editorial playlists. Finally, some of the songs have been playlisted or relayed by international media such as Dazed, DMY, Nova, PAM, Remezcla, The Face, Trax...
The CxC Vol. 1 and CxC Vol. 2 compilations alone account for more than 100k streams on legal platforms and more than 800 downloads on Bandcamp.
