Baje Nunca is back on the label from the Paris region Pont Patton with an EP that sounds like the soundtrack to an imaginary summer
North-east Paris producer Baje Nunca is back with a second EP on the Pont Patton label. Entitled Je Ne Sais Pas Nager (I Don’t Know How to Swim), the release is conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary summer, and comprises 7 tracks in the form of ‘summer relics’, according to the accompanying presskit. Following on from the energetic Sortie D’Usine / Tombé du Camion released at the end of 2023, this new release with the same distinctive name is resolutely sunny, alternating light sounds and banger moments, just like the artist’s discography.
Ahead of the release, the label asked us to broadcast the track ‘Cue Sur Mer’ featuring Alexander Collizione, which is featured in this article. Described as an ‘urban rodeo’, the track blends Jersey club, grime and R&B inspirations over chilled-out layers.
Baje Nunca sees himself as a link in the fragmented Parisian scene, synthesising his influences in his DJ sets, his own productions and as an organising member of the Bourbier Deuspi collective. His label mate, Alexander Collizione, is a true jack-of-all-trades, whose hats range from artistic advisor to producer, DJ, curator and co-president of the ADLFM association. He co-produced several tracks on today’s EP, and will be back on the label in the coming months.
Oriflamme sur le château de sable, Pont Patton and the artist take the prize for the summer’s creative merchandise: a postcard and a photo novel of the producer’s journey will arrive in ‘all good letterboxes’ in September, as the label mysteriously states.
Pre-order Je Ne Sais Pas Nager by Baje Nunca, released on 28 August by Pont Patton.
