Nokia Balistikz: a special project by Metronone on DALF records featuring seven remixes
The label DALF records unveils a unique project with Metronone Nokia Balistikz, a collaborative album that brings together the Bern-based artist Metronone and seven guest remixers, who reinterpret his sonic universe from new perspectives. Known for his experimental approach and strong ties to Bern’s underground aesthetic, Metronone delivers a raw and unpredictable work that blurs the boundaries between club energy and sound experimentation.
At its core, Nokia Balistikz is defined by the tension between raw power and sonic exploration. Broken rhythms, heavy bass, and abrasive textures form Metronone’s signature sound, built from a mix of analog and digital tools. Samplers, drum machines, and synthesisers meet 90s sample CDs, used not just as sources but as instruments in their own right. Field recordings, vocal fragments, and ambient noise add an organic and unpredictable layer to his compositions. The influences range from Rap and Drill to Brazilian Funk and experimental electronic music, always with a taste for imperfection and a strong DIY spirit.
With this special release, DALF Records invites seven artists to reinterpret Metronone’s material, offering fresh visions and turning the EP into a collective laboratory of sound.
Among these reworks, Larissa’s remix, which we are unveiling today in our columns, stands out as a highlight. By emphasising the physicality of the sound, she delivers a powerful and club-driven version, where deep basslines and sharp percussion take centre stage while preserving the raw and experimental essence of the original. Her remix becomes a central piece of the EP, transforming Metronone’s rough energy into an intense dancefloor experience.
With Metronone Nokia Balistikz, DALF Records presents an ambitious project that goes beyond a traditional album, offering instead a space for shared experimentation. Larissa’s remix perfectly illustrates the richness of this approach and shows that within the electronic underground, collaboration remains a driving force for innovation.
