CxC PREMIERE: Mina & BLCK Stream – Abunuabunu (Earth Kicks)

Mina & BLCK Stream connect the UK and Ghana on ‘Abunuabunu’, a 182 BPM track blending Asante rhythms and futuristic club sounds, released on Earth Kicks

The track ‘Abunuabunu’, the first collaboration between Mina and BLCK Stream, has just been released on Earth Kicks, the label founded and run by the internationally renowned English producer and DJ who needs no introduction.

Originally from the Ashanti region of Ghana, BLCK Stream is a DJ and producer known for his unique approach, blending local traditions with contemporary club aesthetics. On ‘Abunuabunu’, he and Mina fuse traditional Asante Kete rhythms with acid synths, mesmerising trance sirens and drum & bass-inspired snares typical of UK club culture, all propelled at an intense tempo of 182 BPM.

Driven by a rolling bassline and syncopated percussion, the track develops a hypnotic and powerful energy, designed for the dancefloor. Its name refers to abunuabunu, a traditional Ghanaian soup made from a wide variety of ingredients — an obvious metaphor for this bi-continental, hybrid and borderless sound.

At the crossroads of global electronic music and African roots, ‘Abunuabunu’ embodies the vision of Earth Kicks, Mina’s label: a space where experimentation, cultural heritage and futuristic clubbing come together.
