After years of collaborating and sharing but never being able to bring a joint evening to fruition, Couvre x Chefs is teaming up with Peruvian label Matraca, currently in the midst of its 10th anniversary European tour. On 14 July we’ll be sharing the bill for Global System, the summer season of La Machine du Moulin Rouge.
The event will bring together NTS resident and Earth Kicks label boss Mina, rising Parisian star Tatyana Jane, Matraca co-founder Lukrø, Matraca affiliate Vitu Valera and Couvre x Chefs co-founder Philou CxC.
Hailing from Lima, the capital of Peru, a multicultural city that is both violent and polluted, the members of Matraca grew up listening to chicha, huayno, reggaeton, salsa, guaracha, boleros, criolla, and more. Later, they were influenced by reggae, hip-hop, house, and bass-oriented music in general. Their vision of music is oriented towards Latin music but comes from a “futuristic Andean Afro” digital approach.
