CxC PREMIERE: Alejandro Marenco – Avispa + Kema – Cortacircuitos (Agua de Rosas)

Chicago collective Agua de Rosas celebrates its 7th anniversary with its first must-have compilation of local and international artists

In March 2025, Agua de Rosas celebrates seven years of existence with the release of its very first compilation. The collective, initially a DJ crew and series of events, has evolved into a label, recently ranked 2ᵉ in the ‘Best Emerging Label’ category by The Chicago Reader.

The compilation, entitled Agua de Rosas V/A Compilation, marks a new era for the collective and label, bringing together 24 tracks fusing Latin Club, Perreo and other energetic sounds. It features local and international artists who have contributed to the evolution of the project. Among them, v1fro (Miami), Aleroj (Colombia), EL PLVYBXY (Argentina) and SEWA (Texas) bring their unique styles, while members J. Córdova and karennoid embody the label’s identity.

Ahead of the release, the Chicago-based label has given us not one but two exclusive tracks: ‘Avispa’ by Nicaraguan-born artist Alejandro Marenco, and ‘Cortacircuitos’ by Minneapolis-based Kema, which you can listen to in this article. To celebrate the event, the label and collective are organising a release party on 15 March at Chicago’s Podlasie Club, with DJ sets by the artists featured on the compilation.
