French singer, producer & DJ SÔNGE is coming up with a dance floor-ready EP called Outremonde, on which she blends her Hyperpop signature vocals with influences of Dancehall, Neoperreo & a solid Gqom-trance crossover featuring Paris-based club chemist anyoneID
In just a few years, the Britton artist SÔNGE installed herself as one of France’s most versatile and on-the-radar pop singers. After releasing her debut LP in 2019 and first EP in 2017, collaborating with producers from the likes of MYD, Pauli The Psm (ex Gorillaz), pianist Sofiane Pamart or Nk.F, she is now coming back to wider attention with the release of her upcoming four-tracker Outremonde. On this project, SÔNGE shows her ability to adapt her dream-like vocal signature to a collection of beats ranging from trancey Dancehall to contemporary Latin Club music, crafted by triple DMC world champion Mr Viktor and CxC longtime favorite DJ & producer anyoneID.
The EP opens with “Water Forgets”, a syncopated slow rave banger full of melancholia on which the French singer develops the theme of self-forgiveness with a high-pitched vocal line in the style of a futuristic mermaid. SÔNGE’s lyrical tenderness is on top of a strip-downed arrangement made from a Dancehall-esque rhythm and ethereal synths. The lead single “Battements du Temps” co-produced by Mr Viktor keeps this post-apocalyptic aesthetic energy of melodic drama with a sharp arsenal of percussions styled with Jersey Club and Neoperreo reminiscences. This track then gets Mr Viktor’s DnB treatment with a remix that sends SÔNGE vocals to another level of freneticism.
Before the full EP release on November 19th 2024, you can now witness the monstrous efficiency of the French multitalented artist being joined by anyoneID on the track “Black Magic”, which you can stream above this article. A perfectly composed Gqom banger including Eurodance synth arpeggios, the latter being purchased by a resonating log drums line, giving a true sense of danceable tension. The middle break of the song shows a suddenly gentle beatless moment where the Britton singer takes on a more low-tuned mantra evocation of hater-fueled witchcraft, just before being enveloped once again by the original drum pattern stomping even more than in the first part of the track. Elegant afro-club mysticism with a touch of pop frenzy, “Black Magic” is an unmissable tune for DJ sets that want to bring to dancers an electric sensation of letting themselves flow freely with SÔNGE sonic sorcery.
