Chef du Jour : Blick Bassy – Akö (Deluxe Version)
French independent record label NØ FØRMAT! presents, since 2004, a atypical range of singers and instrumentalists from Europe and Africa. A perfect example of their line is the collaborative album of the malian musician Ballaké Sissoko and the french cellist Vincent Ségal, untitled Chamber Music. The latest project of NØ FØROMAT! is Akö, album of cameroonian singer Blick Bassy, tinged of blues music from New Orleans and Central Africa.
For the album’s deluxe version, the record label had the bright idea to invite electronic music artistes who were the best candidates to remix the FAB (folk-afro-blues) of Blick Bassy. Among them: the pair Max le Daron and Dj Mellow from Lowup Records (we wrote about the here), the rising duo from Réunion Do Moon (remember?), et Spoek Mathambo, great artist from the South African scene.
