Following the success of the Majía and Amor labels, their boss Royo announces the launch of Club South, a new imprint dedicated to promoting contemporary Club Music rooted in Southern influences.
“The South has got something to say”, is the motto of Club South, the new label announced by Royo (fka Sines), Houston-based producer and DJ already at the helm of the respected Majía and Amor. Historically, the American South has always been able to pick up musical trends and infuse them with its own culture, whether in rap, club music or by mixing the two. Trap from Atlanta, Miami Bass, Bounce Music from Louisiana, and Chopped & Screwed from Texas are just a few of the musical movements to have emerged from the South before conquering the world. With a keen awareness and knowledge of the region’s musical heritage, Club South aims, through each release, to capture the spirit of the South and promote its variety. With connections to Juke, Bmore and Jersey Club, the label promises to bring the innovation and authenticity of Southern Club Music to the Global Club scene.
In addition to a first mix to be released soon, Club South today presents its first release. It’s a single entitled “Eyez”, produced by Royo and El Blanco Niño. Already featured on Majía, this is a logical first collaboration between Bronx producer El Blanco Niño and the label boss. Short but potent (2mn37), the track draws its energy from the characteristic sounds of Bmore and Jersey Club (those inimitable breaks and rhythmics), revisited and boosted to 150 BPM. Numerous syncopated vocal samples and additional percussive elements frenetically dress up the track. As a counterpoint to all this power, the track sounds surprisingly soulful and almost melancholy, thanks to an omnipresent set of reverberating layers and other brief but impeccably placed R&B topline vocal excerpts.
Pre-order “Eyez” by Royo & El Blanco Niño on Bandcamp and streaming platforms, to be released on April 5th on Club South.
