CxC PREMIERE: Lao – Redoble (Éxtasis Records)

Lao unveils Siren Cycle, an experimental club EP between territory and ritual

Mexican producer Lao returns with Siren Cycle, a new EP of experimental Club Music that explores Latin American rhythms from an unconventional angle. The release is scheduled for 19 February on Bandcamp, then 27 February on all platforms, via the independent label Éxtasis Records, founded in 2012 by the artist himself.

Immersive and organic Latin American Club Music

Comprising six tracks, Siren Cycle navigates between Tribal, Guaracha and Latin Club, while avoiding obvious formulas. Lao favours bold rhythmic structures, organic textures and hypnotic energy designed as much for the dance floor as for attentive listening.

The EP envisages the club as a contemporary ritual space – a place where body, sound and territory resonate. Repetition becomes trance, rhythm becomes language.

The Huasteca Potosina as a sensory matrix

The project was born out of a personal experience: a trip to the Huasteca Potosina, a region marked by the omnipresent presence of water – rivers, waterfalls and caves. Rather than offering a literal representation of the landscapes, Siren Cycle provides a sensory interpretation.

The rhythmic cycles evoke continuous flows, while the atmospheres suggest humidity and depth. The music moves forward like a current: pulsating, enveloping, in constant motion.

Redoble, a captivating and intuitive production, exclusively on CxC

Sonically, Lao combines contemporary production techniques with an instinctive approach to rhythm, as evidenced by the track ‘Redoble’, which we are premiering in this article.

Between dense, immersive basslines, syncopated percussion, minimalist melodic motifs and evolving layers that create tension and breathing space, Lao’s music always has that unrivalled touch that is emblematic of the producer. The melodic elements act as signals – ‘sirens’ – within a cycle that repeats, transforms and constantly recharges itself.

Over 20 years of underground electronic exploration

Active for more than two decades, Lao has established himself as a unique figure in Mexico’s underground electronic scene. A pioneer and reference point, key member of the NAAFI collective, Lao’s work is distinguished by a confident DIY approach, a constant exploration of rhythm and a desire to connect the dance floor with Latin American cultural and territorial contexts.

His music moves between club, experimental and ritualistic dimensions, favouring a strong sonic identity over fleeting trends, as evidenced by his longevity and this new EP.

With Siren Cycle, he confirms his position as a leading artist in the Latin American electronic music scene, engaging with the global club scene without resorting to exoticism or clichés – a raw, personal offering rooted in the present.
