Between rhythmic exploration and atmospheric textures, the Early Reflex label presents its 20th release with an EP by New Yorker No Sir
Turin-based label Early Reflex has announced its 20th release, an EP by New York artist No Sir. Entitled Radial Burn, this new EP furthers No Sir’s characteristic rhythmic and atmospheric exploration. In it, the author explores complex and elusive motifs, playing with the listener’s feelings to produce a clever blend of club energy and introspective sound design.
Ahead of the release, the label asked us to listen to the track ‘Soft Tissue’, which is featured in this article. The track oscillates between ordered chaos and sensitive breaths using erratic, clattering rhythms and expansive atmospheric textures.
No Sir to tell us more about the making of this EP:
In working on this EP, I was drawn to the push and pull between double and half-time, finding pockets of air and atmosphere amidst layers of sinuous percussion and noise. By shifting the stress of the beat within each track, I aimed to explore how subtle changes in rhythmic emphasis can impact the human body
