A true transition project between Majía and Club South, Royo captures the essence of the musical identities of both labels on his forthcoming release The Lost Tapes
Majía is dead, long live Club South. The announcement was made a few days ago on social networks: the Majía label, which has accompanied the development of Club Music from Houston over the last 8 years, and its sub-label Amor, have closed their doors and made way for Club South. As part of this revival, DJ and producer Royo (head of the labels above) is announcing a very special release to bridge the gap between these different projects.
The Lost Tapes contains 20 previously unreleased tracks composed by the label boss between 2019 and 2023. Drawing inspiration from UKG, Drill, Jungle, Amapiano, Ambient and other Club beats, the project sweeps across a spectrum ranging from 100 to 160 bpm. The 20 tracks that make up the release are impregnated with the sonic signature that the producer has honed throughout his career, definitely club, but imbued with intimate, nostalgic ambience, as you can hear on the exclusive extract we’re unveiling today, “By Myself”.
Royo delivers here a veritable sound archive that synthesizes his determination to always push back the limits of the pre-established codes of contemporary Club Music. A true transition project between Majía and Club South, The Lost Tapes captures the essence of this ever-changing body of sonorities, with atmospheres characteristic of the musical identities of both labels, brought together in a pivotal project.
Pre-order The Lost Tapes on Bandcamp. To be released on Club South on June 14.
