Still in search of futuristic global electronic music, the Portuguese label XXIII signs an EP from Brazilian producer Adame, who imagines a Love Parade in the streets of Rio
Founded in 2015 by Torres and Noia in Porto, the XXIII collective has quickly become an essential reference in the global club scene, in particular through 11 compilations bringing together emerging and established producers from around the world. By focusing its musical aesthetic around genres such as Baile Funk, Miami Bass, Batida, Kuduro, Hard Drum and their most underground offshoots, the structure has at the same time been enriched with a visual identity and a clothing line, offering different vectors for sharing this culture in keeping with the times.
The label’s newest recruit, Pedro Henrique began producing sound in 2018, posting his unpretentious creations on social media, while unknowingly modelling the face of his alias Adame. From Cachoeiro de Itapemirim in the state of Espírito Santo north of Rio, the young man is obviously inspired by Carioca Funk, but also by Berlin Techno to produce this Baile Parade, which uses the rawest energy of these two influences. With its electro beat and its 90s club atmosphere, “Tambor” – which we invite you to listen to here in preview – announces through its lyrics the start of the festivities, with Adame at the controls. On the following five tracks, Adame has fun merging subgenres, mixing Tamborzão (derived from Miami Bass) and Acid surges, Rave synths and Bruxaria from São Paulo, Gabber kick and Capixaba Funk, a hybrid subgenre originating from his region. An EP rich in references which nevertheless goes straight to the point, and which risks wreaking havoc on the dancefloors!
