The Australian DJ/producer Tinika explores the rhythms of Afro-diasporic club culture on her forthcoming EP for Funky Adjacent
Australian DJ and producer Tinika is back on the London label Funky Adjacent with her new EP, Verve. On it, the Melbourne/Naarm-based artist explores rhythms drawn from Afro-diasporic club culture. Recently nominated for Music Victoria’s Best DJ 2024, Tinika draws on her vast knowledge of clubs and festivals to compose three tracks that promise to be highly effective on dance floors.
Our pre-release extract is the track ‘SAVAGE’, out now on CxC. On this track, Tinika explores darker textures, between reminiscences of techno and classic funky house piano, overlaid with layers of brass and solid 808 sounds. SAVAGE’ is a dynamic track that blurs genres and promises to be effective on the dancefloor.
Funky Adjacent is a label and events collective that focuses on cross-pollination between UK funk and percussive genres from around the world.
