Not the Singer unveils ¡DALE!: an explosive blend of UK Bass and Latin percussion
Not the Singer is the alias of producer Sam Smith, born in London and now based in Melbourne. His musical project focuses on bass, percussion and raw club energy. His music is a hybrid fusion of UK Bass, UK Funky, and Brazilian Funk, with elements of Acid and Breaks inherited from the Melbourne electronic scene.
His transcontinental journey has shaped a unique universe. In London, Sam Smith was inspired by the skippy drums of UK Garage (UKG) and the dubby sub-bass characteristic of British sound systems. In Australia, he enriched his style with distorted acid bass lines and high-energy breaks, giving rise to a sound that is percussive, intense and unpredictable.
Today, we are delighted to exclusively broadcast his new track, ‘¡DALE!’. True to his signature sound, this track combines powerful 4×4 rhythms, speed dembow-inspired percussion and energetic Latin vocals that blow the structure apart. The distorted bass rumbles in the background while the percussive variations keep the track in constant tension, creating an atmosphere that is both feverish and festive. It’s a track designed to set clubs alight and shift the energy of a set in the middle of the night.
With ‘¡DALE!’, Not the Singer confirms his place among the most exciting producers on the new electronic scene, alongside Nikki Nair, Burna, DJ ADHD, Sui Mata and Amor Satyr, while asserting a unique and immediately recognisable style. His tracks, raw yet playful, explore a zone where heavy bass meets free-flowing percussion. And with this new single, he has made a big impact.
In short, Not the Singer is part of a new generation of electronic producers: open to global influences, rooted in club culture, and always ready to push the boundaries of sound. With ‘¡DALE!’, he delivers a production that literally explodes with club energy.
