Bogota producer CRRDR brings together salsa, dembow, and club music in his latest single “Fin“
The Colombian producer CRRDR signs the last track for 2021, the well-named “Fin”. It marks the end of a busy year of releases and a musical and personal turning point.
Using samples of Héctor Lavoe’s salsa classics “Todo Tiene su Final” and “La Fama” in the middle of a devastating dembow beat, the Bogotá-based producer creates a parallel between the importance of salsa in the past and reggaeton today.
A pivotal piece, “Fin” addresses the question of rupture and continuity on several levels. That of the History of music of course, but from a more introspective point of view, with “Fin”, CRRDR wishes to mark its artistic evolution. “I wanted to reflect this merger as the beginning and end of something. Like this year can be, a stage, and maybe even a change in my life”, the Colombian producer told us.
The track is released via Mothership, a label and collective run by CRRDR that aims to spread music that fuses elements of Latin American culture with innovative electronic club music.
