Tamale Disco: hero.created’s sonic journey between Berlin and Northern Ghana
Tamale Disco is a three-track EP by Berlin-based Ghanaian artist hero.created, released on Matraca, an independent Peruvian label known for its innovative sound explorations. With this project, the producer immerses us in the vibrant energy of Northern Ghana and the Angolan diaspora, blending deep basslines, organic rhythms, and hypnotic movement. Each track reflects a unique side of the region’s pulse—from raw street heat to reimagined folklore. The result is a musical experience that bridges memory, dance, and imagination.
At the heart of the EP, the track “Karingo” stands out. The word Karingo is an invented term, inspired by the spirit of Northern Ghana. It embodies the essence of movement: joyful, mysterious, a rhythm that shifts between tradition and modernity. This piece captures hero.created’s vision—to transform ancestral batida-influenced rhythms from Portugal/Angola into a contemporary soundscape, equally suited for the dancefloor and intimate listening.
Based in Berlin, hero.created has built a hybrid musical identity at the crossroads of the European electronic scene and African sonic heritage. With Tamale Disco, he doesn’t just pay tribute to his roots—he reinvents them in a universal sound language, capable of bringing dancers together across the globe.
With Tamale Disco, hero.created and Matraca deliver a bold and unifying project, both deeply rooted and cosmopolitan. This three-track EP proves that music is a universal language—one that can carry listeners from the streets of Northern Ghana to Berlin’s club scene in just a few Angolan-influenced beats. Available to listen to now on CxC: step into the world of Tamale Disco and let yourself be moved by the spirit of “Karingo”.
