Producer K1RA announces his upcoming EP Beneath The Stars on Ecuadorian label Cumbia Tu Mente (C.T.M)
A fusion of feeling and club energy
Washington-based producer K1RA‘s next release is an EP entitled Beneath The Stars. This EP will be his first vocal project, on which he sings on all tracks, in addition to handling production. Beneath The Stars will be released on the Ecuadorian label Cumbia Tu Mente, marking the artist’s return to C.T.M after the 2024 EP Oscura.
Comprising four tracks, this new effort is imbued with the melancholy, darkness, and Latinx influences typical of the artist. Rhythmic reggaeton rebajada, deconstructed Brazilian funk, and other mutant dancehall styles rub shoulders with unsettling layers, ghostly-pitched vocals, and icy sounds. A formidable piece of introspective industrial Latin post-club music.
“Grow Apart”: the emotional heart of a changing project
Ahead of the release, K1RA entrusted us with the distribution of the track “Grow Apart”, unveiled in this article. A true centrepiece of the project, the song weaves a unique balance between cinematic textures, club energy, and raw emotion. Built on ambient soundscapes, deconstructed basslines, and Brazilian funk rhythms, the track reveals K1RA’s voice for the first time—both vulnerable and charged with a rare rhythmic intensity. The result is a sonic experience at the crossroads of the dance floor and introspection, intimate and expansive at the same time.
More than just a single, “Grow Apart” embodies the emotional heartbeat of a project forged in tension, metamorphosis, and resilience. Through this track, K1RA explores themes of desire, separation, and rebirth, translated into music that oscillates between ambient melancholy and dancefloor power. The EP Beneath The Stars will continue this sonic and emotional exploration, marking an essential step in the journey of an artist who fuses vocal intimacy with global club culture.
Cumbia Tu Mente: the label redefining the Latinx electronic scene
The track and the entire EP will be released on Cumbia Tu Mente (C.T.M), an iconic Ecuadorian label representing the new Latin and post-club avant-garde. CTM is establishing itself as a rising force in the Latin American underground electronic scene, recently highlighted by Pitchfork for its key role in the transformation of the Latin club movement. With Beneath The Stars, K1RA is fully embracing this movement: a universe where lyricism, experimental production, and danceable energy come together.
