Perreo, dembow, and other unstoppable club beats collide on Lukrø and Cardozo’s forthcoming joint EP for Hypersonics
Lukrø and Cardozo, two of global club music’s leading producers, have teamed up for an EP on Mexican label Hypersonics.
Entitled Chiki EP, this joint project, which links Lima to Montpellier with a stopover in Mexico City, showcases the shared vision of the two artists, who combine Latin American rhythms (dembow, reggaeton, etc.) with elements of club music. The EP consists of two tracks and their respective remixes by Entrañas and Brvtvs.
As an exclusive preview to the release, Hypersonics has given us the premiere of the eponymous track, “Chiki”, available now on CxC. An unstoppable perreo tool, the track combines the inimitable reggaeton break, vocal samples and darker touches, for a result we can’t wait to hear on the dancefloor.
Lukrø is also the founder of Matraca, a hyperactive label celebrating its tenth anniversary this summer with a European tour we’ll be telling you about shortly.
Chiki EP by Lukrø and Cardozo is out on 30 May via Hypersonics, follow the label on Bandcamp.
