PREMIERE: MVLDEOJO – Sed de Aniquilación (AMULETO)

Mexican producer and DJ MVLDEOJO delivers an experimental, cathartic album designed for dance floors, to be released on his AMULETO label

MVLDEOJO is a Mexican DJ and producer based in Cholula (Puebla), and founder of the AMULETO collective and netlabel. After first experimenting with cumbia, MVLDEOJO’s sound evolved into a darker, more hybrid club aesthetic for the dance floor, without losing sight of the typical Latin American rhythms. His sensitive approach to music allows him to express repressed feelings ranging from pain to euphoria and melancholy. A true curator and promoter, MVLDEOJO uses his AMULETO platform to share and promote the music of local artists in the form of mixes, label releases and event production.

After several self-releases and appearances on various compilations and key labels (Ofensa, Muakk, po$$$ole, 444.DIVINE.444…), the boss will soon be releasing the album Sed de Aniquilación. Conceived as a diary dedicated to cataloguing his darkest emotions, the approach behind the album is definitely cathartic. By collecting his own feelings in this way, the author promises to stop running away from them and accept them as part of who he is.

Ahead of the album’s forthcoming release, MVLDEOJO gave us a sneak preview of the eponymous track, ‘Sed de Aniquilación’, which you can listen to right now in our columns. Resolutely experimental, but absolutely club, the track oscillates between juke rhythms and guaracha-ish 4/4 beats, alternating between danceable passages and lighter, more melodic ones. So much for the rest of the album!

The Sed de Aniquilación album also includes collaborations with Santa Niña on the track ‘Huesos de Serpiente’ and Venvsdad on ‘Solo Ruinas Quedan’. MVLDEOJO commented: ‘I can personally identify with the music and the feelings they communicate, and I think it’s incredible that we’ve been able to create this collection of collaborations’.

Pre-order Sed de Aniquilación by MVLDEOJO on Bandcamp, coming out on AMULETO on 7 October.
