Sabrina Bellaouel is about to take over the global club dancefloors, powered by irresistible remixes by Karen Nyame KG and Bernadette
To celebrate the anniversary of her excellent debut album, Al Hadr, Franco-Algerian artist Sabrina Bellaouel is back on InFiné with a new EP of remixes (and a video) of her track ‘Period Point Blanc’.
Spearheading an entrancing R&B in constant dialogue with the club, Bellaouel is once again brilliantly indulging in the art of remixing. After ‘Jah’ last summer, revisited by Dorian Concept and Vampi, this time it’s ‘Period Point Blanc’ that comes out in an edit version, along with remixes by Bernadette and Karen Nyame KG. Given the club potential of the original track, these are obvious choices, promising to make their mark on the best dancefloors.
The edit version of the track – beautifully clipped by Augure Augure – puts the percussive rhythmic sequence back at the forefront, in stark contrast to the round, warm vocals of the ‘Amazigh Princess’. The young DJ, producer and harpist Bernadette delivers an energetic reworking of the tune, playing with breaks and drum & bass. Finally, we are delighted to unveil the remix by ‘Rhythm Goddess’ Karen Nyame KG, who brings the ‘KG experience’ to ‘Period Point Blanc’. The Englishwoman has signed a new masterpiece here, having made notable contributions to recent remix albums by Night Slugs (Night Slugs Classix Remixed) and Kelela (RAVE:N, The Remixes). The Rhythm In The City label boss makes the track her own, adding her inimitable signature Afro House and (UK) Amapiano influences. The whole thing is enhanced by Sabrina Bellaouel’s carefully placed vocal samples. Perfect!
Sabrina Bellaouel will be at Nuits Sonores on 10 May, then at the Days Off Festival at the Philharmonie de Paris on 27 June.
Pre-order Period Point Blank by Sabrina Bellaouel on Bandcamp, out on 26 April on InFiné.
