For his third EP, producer SLACK 1NE explores new rhythmic and melodic possibilities while refining his percussive palette
Australian producer SLACK 1NE is back with his third EP, CHEMISTRY. It follows HYBRID and WORLD 1:2, two releases establishing the Melbournian as a new force on the underground percussive club music scene.
CHEMISTRY marks an evolution in SLACK 1NE’s style. In addition to the heavy bass and percussion work characteristic of the producer, he has experimented with slower-than-usual BPMs and more minimalist, groovy atmospheres.
Our pre-release extract from the EP is the track ‘TAPESTRY’, out now. For almost 6 minutes the Australian plunges us into a dark, progressive, technoid sonic journey. Rhythmic sequences, each more technical than the last, interact with each other, all dressed up with furtive keyboard notes and characteristic vocal samples.
Pre-save CHEMISTRY by SLACK 1NE, out on 9 May on all platforms.
