Brazil, Peru and Chile unite their hybrid club BPMs on the Third World Gang Vol. 2 compilation brought to you by the Algol, Matraca and Makinmovs labels
Four years after the first volume, South American labels Matraca and Makinmovs are teaming up again to present their joint compilation Third World Gang Vol. 2, or T.W.G. Vol. 2, accompanied by Brazilian label Algol.
The aim of this project, as well as bringing together artists from the south of the American continent, is to highlight innovative proposals chosen by the three labels. This project marks an important stage in terms of collaborative work, as it is the result of the combined efforts of three collectives from different latitudes of South America: Sao Paulo (Brazil – Algol), Lima (Peru – Matraca) and Santiago (Chile – Makinmovs).
Comprising 13 previously unreleased tracks, T.W.G. Vol. 2 brings together ELK (BR), MALO2K (CL), Rasenk (Ur), DJ Nen (BR), Dr.100 (PE), SNPR BASS (CL), Bautista & Selvagia (PE), Redken Panda (Bol), Sad Baby (BR), Fer Lerant (PE), Guzbeats (BR), Wst (CL) & Lukrø (PE). Genres range from juke and footwork to ghetto house, bass music, guaracha, Brazilian funk, UK garage, jungleton and other captivating hybrids.
Our pre-release extract is the track ‘Muévelo’ by Chilean SNPR BSS, available now on CxC. Resolutely hybrid, the global club track rethinks the trumpets that seem to have come straight out of the guaracha for an unstoppable result. SNPR BSS is a prolific producer based in Conchalí who has been active for around ten years. A resident of the global bass club LAB Music, his music has been released on the Hermanitos Label and Plek Music. He is currently working with other colleagues on the Red Diesel label.
The Third World Gang initiative was born at the time of covid as a collaborative project between Matraca and Makinmovs, aiming for mutual support, unity and the collective growth of the community. T.W.G. is a way of forging and strengthening links between artists across the continent, beyond administrative borders and mental barriers, with the ambition of working together in a decentralised and horizontal way.
