On his upcoming EP to be released on Czech label Unizone, TCV depicts emotional post-apocalyptic soundscapes
TCV is the alias of Paul G Dahlmeyer, a producer and musician from Berlin. After releases and collaborations with 76666 or POSTWORLD, among others, he will release his next EP on Prague’s experimental club label, Unizone.
TCV’s approach to music is almost like sound design. True soundscapes, emotional, cold and full of twists and turns, the production of someone who is also a professional guitarist is descriptive and inhabited. What particularly characterizes Eclipse is the work done on the melodies and the post-apocalyptic narrative of the project. Inspired by 90s Japanese cyberpunk (964 Pinocchio, Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Akira…), TCV blurs the lines between high-tech sound design and full-volume club energy.
Before the release of the EP, the label entrusted us with the broadcast of the track “Drift”, listen to it now on CxC. On this opening track of the EP, the synthesizers transform into accelerator strokes, the mechanical sound effects become percussion, all strictly framed by melodic layers. An emotional track that could come straight out of a video game OST that turns, we don’t really know how, into an unstoppable club tool. Brilliant.
Pre-order Eclipse by TCV on Bandcamp, release coming to Unizone on November 8th.
