For our last show on Rinse France, we had the pleasure to invite the Cuban-American DJ and activist Loka, alongside the Uruguayan singer/producer/DJ Adriana A. Navarro.
Loka
Cuban-American DJ, LOKA, explores striking, percussion-heavy sounds and socio-political themes through music. Filled to the limit with high energy, confrontational sonic disruption, her powerful sets have found a home on Rinse FM, Red Bull Radio, Noods Radio, Noisey, as well as a spot on SF’s Guardian’s 2018 Best Mix List. She also collaborates with NYC feminist collective BRUJAs, Uruguay’s electronic music label Salviatek, New York’s HAUS OF ALTR label, Brooklyn’s Halfmoon BK Radio where she holds a monthly residency and where she is the music programmer for Miami’s intersectional-abolitionist queer collective, (F)empower. In her recent soundscape for (F)empower’s 2040 Art Basel 2018 installation, LOKA examined the effects of the anthropocene and human catastrophe. The heavyweight has DJed sold out shows at the ICA Miami, PAMM, and is an unmissable and resounding force in underground rave culture up and down the east coast, turning heads, and playing countless late-night dancefloors.

Adriana A. Navarro is a multi faceted artist from Montevideo, Uruguay, close to label like Salviatek, TRRUENO or HiedraH Club de Baile. She just performed at Mutek Argentina alongside Argentinian artist Braian from HiedraH and she has already positioned herself as a promising artist to keep an eye on.
