The new single from London’s 4am Kru illustrates their “retro rave” approach by combining jungle and nostalgic 80’s synths
London jungle collective 4am Kru is back with a new UK retro rave banger: “Samantha”.
After blowing away the algorithms with their latest drum’n’bass single in collaboration with producer and songwriter Shantéh (+ 44k Spotify streams), 4am Kru has been keeping a low profile.
Faithful to their immersive approach, as graphic as musical, the duo formed by Stu and Howie unveils today the track “Samantha”, which you can listen to at the top of the article. If the collective’s goal is really to revisit the jungle and UK rave of the 90s with a touch of their own, it’s definitely a mission accomplished with this new track.
Influenced by 80s movie soundtracks, “Samantha” is the ingenious and unexpected result of iconic 80s synthesizer layers and jungle breaks. In the continuity of their neat visual universe, “Samantha” embodies the metaphor of the passage to adulthood as seen in John Hughes’ movies (Home alone, The Breakfast Club). The whole thing is reinforced by the breaks and bassline so dear to the London duo.
First piece of a trilogy of releases made for the summer of 2021, this new single, which is already the thirteenth release of the collective, is released on the jungle label Embrace The Real Records.
“Samantha” by 4a Kru is available on Bandcamp and all platforms.
