« Loco » is a special track curated by Rosa Pistola for our latest compilation, CxC Vol. 2
It’s starring the Mexican rapper Hoz and French producer Scarlett. Hoz is the new signee and rising talent managed by Rosa Pistola, hailing from Mexico City’s district Tepito. Paris-based producer Scarlett is a key member of the Couvre x Chefs’ collective, known for her unique sound design approach to contemporary hybrid and obscure pop music.
The song was initiated by Rosa Pistola who introduced us to Hoz. Scarlett produced the perfect beat that gives the track its tonality: experimental and mysterious, with a solid reggaeton rhythm. Hoz’s flow, singular voice, and lyrics did the rest and turned the track into an underground reggaeton banger. The vocals were recorded by DJ Criztian in Rosa’s studio La Chekera.
The video was filmed next to Presa Madín, a dam in Estado de México. It showcases the Bardictos Crew, a group of young guys who train in apparatus and gymnastics. It features a Facetime appearance of Scarlett at 40 seconds. The video was directed and edited by Aldo So, the photography was done by Josué Eber M., both long-time CxC collaborators. The clip was entirely shot on 16mm film.
