CxC PREMIERE: Mysthy – Love Theme “Mulholland Drive” (METEO NIFFF “Ode to D. Lynch”)

David Lynch reinterpreted by the Francophone club scene – METEO & Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival 2025

After a memorable closing night in late 2023 at Geneva’s KZERN, the independent label METEO is making a strong comeback in 2025 with an exceptional collaborative project in partnership with the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF). Staying true to its artistic DNA that blends innovation with tribute, METEO unveils its fifth thematic compilation, titled Ode to D. Lynch, dedicated to David Lynch, the legendary filmmaker known for his surreal and mysterious cinema, who passed away in early 2025. This compilation also pays homage to Angelo Badalamenti, Lynch’s long-time composer, by breathing new life into his iconic soundtracks through the lens of contemporary electronic music from the French-speaking world.

The project brings together a new wave of electronic music producers from the francophone scene, reinterpreting iconic tracks from films like Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks with influences ranging from post-punk to trance. Each artist performs under a fictional alias — a nod to Lynchian storytelling — with names like Diane Contempla, Elle Cooper, Laure Palmier, Raymond Hunter + Franck Booth feat. Yeve, Muad’Dib, Noir Velvet, The Prisoner, Judy, Harklohnnen, Mr Empty Face, The Huckleberry Pies et M3C, and Mystilencio. Curated by Witold Langlois, founder of METEO, this cast of enigmatic characters comes to life throughout the release. The first persona to be unveiled is Mystilencio, performed by Geneva-based producer MYSTHY (Lake Side Basement collective), who reimagines the “Love Theme” from Mulholland Drive in a powerful, trance-infused version.

In addition to the digital release, a limited CD edition of 100 free copies will be available starting in early July at the official NIFFF 2025 boutique in Neuchâtel. This collector’s item is already shaping up to be a must-have for fans of experimental music and independent cinema. With this new release, METEO and the NIFFF create a rare and captivating bridge between two artistic worlds, in a surreal, Lynchian atmosphere where fiction and sound become one.
