Orbitfold takes us into the realm of 170 bpm with “TarDrops”, a liquid drum & bass track that will delight Liquicity fans
Lithuanian-born Orbitfold, currently based in Munich, is a producer who came to our ears last month. Producing for over 20 years, he is one of those who likes to experiment. He mixes sounds with ease to create a sound of his own. “Orbital, Autechre, Burial, Boards of Canada, Future Sound of London, The Orb”, that’s what he will tell you if you want to know more about his influences. Eclectic influences echo his musical versatility. His productions can be found on various netlabels and compilations, but today, it’s on Couvre x Chefs.
Orbitfold takes us this time to the realm of 170 bpm with “TarDrops”, a liquid drum & bass track that will delight fans of Liquicity and other dnb labels with a warm atmosphere.
Round sub-bass linked to throbbing drums, enough to make you dance, run or prepare for summer. The sound opens with birdsong, another sign of the good weather to come. The main bass is deep, the reese bass adds energy to the composition and the fast, cyclical drums remind us that we’re jigging on 170bpm. We get carried away by the different layers that are added to the production. It almost feels like being in a warp zone in a video game, between different locations.
Orbitfold is a name to watch, both because of the energy he put into his music and because of his production skills. We can only hope that next summer will be as delightful and warm as “TarDrops”. You can listen to the sound at the top of the article on our Soundcloud player and stream/buy on your favorite platform.
