PREMIERE: Onelight – Don’t Mind feat. Rockie Fresh (Pura Pura Remix)

Onelight joins forces with Girl Unit, Scarlett, Pura Pura and Nicolas Malinowsky to produce a formidable club version of his latest EP

A few months after his conclusive Moreover EP, which highlighted collaborations with MCs and vocalists, Paris-based producer Onelight returns with a bang with the exciting Moreover Reworks.

Almost a year ago to the day, Onelight released Hold Me Remixes, an EP on which he invited a demanding selection of producers to remix one of the key tracks of his album Emporium. An interesting formula that the musician decided to repeat with his Moreover EP released last autumn. On the original project, the author revealed his rap, trap, and R’n’b side by inviting a solid line-up of MCs and vocalists: Rockie Fresh, Yuneer Gainz, Kevin Jussein, and Jay Cue. Continuously playing between club, R’n’B, bass music, and hip hop, one could of course expect Onelight not to stop there and reimagine Moreover in a club version.

Comprising 7 tracks in total, Moreover Reworks includes 3 VIP versions made by Onelight himself who explores his creative potential and delivers reworkings between bass music, dubstep, and baile funk. The other 4 tracks were commissioned to an impeccable line-up of artists: Night Slugs’ legendary Girl Unit, the rising star of the French scene Pura Pura, the delightfully unclassifiable Scarlett, and the rare but always excellent Nicolas Malinowsky (who also signs the artwork).

As an appetizer before the release, Onelight gave us the track “Don’t Mind Feat. Rockie Fresh (Pura Pura Remix)”, unveiled today in our columns. A real dancefloor banger, the Montpellier native Pura Pura sought inspiration from DJ Slugo and the mythical Dance Mania label. “I had to try three different versions before making the one that seemed the most obvious to me: I really tried to combine a very Dance Mania ghetto house side with the vocal cuts and 808 rhythmics with a more melancholic and dreamy mood on the melodies. Both work well”, the remixer told us.

Want to discover the EP on a big sound system? Come and see Onelight live tomorrow night (Friday 3 March) at our party at Alimentation Générale from 9 pm, accompanied by a live set from Scarlett feat. VoxAxoV, followed by DJ sets from BJF, Philou CxC, and Næja.

Pre-order Moreover Reworks by Onelight on all platforms, official release on March 17th.
