The collective of producers who forged their reputation with 160 BPM beats and skilful use of the 808 Le French Work aka LFW announced their next release: an EP by SNKLS.
Entitled Crapy Toubab, this project is the second part of the LFW Classics series. On this volume, French rap is honoured by the use of samples of classics of the genre. On the 4 tracks that make up the EP, SNKLS revisits Hamza, Oxmo Puccino and others by using samples from recent or older songs without any qualms. All are decomposed and finely restructured according to the precise rhythm of the juke and footwork style.
In order to wait until the full EP is out, LFW and SNKLS have entrusted us with the preview of their opening title: Esquive, which you can listen to with the link below.
Fans of the genre will gladly recognize the use of the melody from J’ai Mal au Mic by Oxmo Puccino. The voice comes from Sadik Asken, member of the late Marseille ANPE crew (A Ne Pas Emmerder), an information that SNKLS told us: “Some friends had brought back tape mixtapes, we played them over and over”. When old-fashioned rap will once again tear clubs apart in 2020, we’ll say thank you to SNKLS and Le French Work.
Crapy Toubab EP from SNKLS will be available on April 20 in full on the LFW Bandcamp.
