Brighton label Accidental Meetings announces debut compilation, “AM: Friends & Family Vol. 1”
Accidental Meetings was originally a club night in Brighton. On a forced break since spring, like many cultural actors in the scene, AM took the opportunity to reinvent itself and develop its label side. The first release is a twenty-one track charity compilation entitled AM: Friends & Family Vol. 1. As its name suggests, we find in the tracklisting a nice range of club producers close to the Brighton collective. DJ Tess, Noire, De Grandi, or even the Toulouse-based Kaval (whose track is the topic of this article) are among the artists who responded to the call from Accidental Meetings.
In order to tease a bit before the release of the whole project on November 6th, AM entrusted us with the broadcast of the track “Crooked Teeth” by Kaval which you can listen to on the player at the top of the article. True to his habit, the southern producer delivers a robust work of percussion. On the other hand, no one was ready for Kaval to leave his familiar 130 BPM. “Crooked Teeth” is indeed one of the rare pieces of Toulouse flirting with 100 BPM. Hybrid dancehall or mutant dub? Regardless, the groove of this “Crooked Teeth” by Kaval is fantastic and we want more.
Coming digitally on Bandcamp and all platforms, the compilation will also be released on a limited edition cassette accompanied by a fanzine, all designed by graphic designer Ciaran Birch. All profits will be distributed equitably between the following associations : Brighton Homeless, BLMUK & NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
Available November 6, the compilation AM: Friends & Family Vol. 1 is for pre-order on Bandcamp.
