Buenos Aires media artist, producer, and radio host Maja presents his upcoming EP “Contraluz” on independent netlabel and DIY Argentinian club project Rebote.
Manuel Biderman, Maja‘s real name, has been lately showcasing “Southern Beasts” a monthly radio show on Hong Kong Community Radio where he presents mixes from artists whose work relates to queer, mutant, and other forms of corporal disobedience.
The aesthetics of his radio shows, music, and artworks highlights futuristic & decolonial outcomes on sound activism and radical politics, powerful attributes that have pursued him to collaborate with related Argentinian collectives and artists such as TRRUENO, AGVA, O.L.I.V.I.A and OKTE. Likewise, Maja’s visual work and sound explorations are deeply inspired by hyper-digital sound design and hi-tech states of euphoria and dysphoria.
For Contraluz, an ethereal and introspective cut full of alienating bridges of melodic compositions and angelical vocal samples, he gathered EL PLVYBXY, DVINX, and Otro for remixing duties.
Premiering up at the top of the article, Otro reinterpretation took the contemplative essence of the original track into a cohesive yet gleaming hard-techno edit. The uplifting yet experimental approach of the short remix conceives hypnotic dance-driven energy that complements nicely with Maja’s otherworldly soundscapes. Listen now.
Contraluz EP will be available on December 17th on all digital platforms. Pre-order on Rebote’s Bandcamp.
